About Us
Visionary Machines LLC is a Pittsburgh-based startup out of Carnegie Mellon University. The founder, Dr. David S. Touretzky, is a Research Professor in the Computer Science Department and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition.
Our first product, Calypso, is the result of over seven years of research at Carnegie Mellon into how children learn rule-based robot programming. This research was supported in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation, and by a gift from Microsoft Research.
Visionary Machines is pleased to acknowledge support from the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon, and from the National Science Foundation through the NSF I-Corps program.
