The Association for Computing Machinery's (ACM's) Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) has made a special projects award to Carnegie Mellon University to fund development of Calypso curriculum materials for elementary school students.
Carnegie Mellon Computer Science Professor David Touretzky will use the $4,400 award to partner with New Brighton Elementary School in developing a series of instructional activities to introduce 3rd through 5th graders to computational thinking and robot programming with Calypso.
A preliminary draft of the first few activities can be viewed on the Calypso curriculum page. (Go to https://Calypso.software and click on the Curriculum link in the navigation bar.)
